			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Osteoporosis is a disease that causes a person&#8217;s bones to become weak and fragile.  Weakened bones are more likely to break, even from simple activities such as walking across a room.  However, the good news is that you can take a number of steps that will help you reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis.</p>
<p>The primary mineral in our bones is calcium.  Most of us don’t get enough calcium from our diets, especially as we age.  For this reason, foods rich in calcium should be a part of everyone&#8217;s daily diet.  These foods include dairy foods and leafy green vegetables, such as kale, spinach and even broccoli.  Low or reduced fat versions of dairy products contain just as much calcium as the full fat versions and may help you lower your consumption of saturated fat.  Too much saturated fat allows the body to produce high levels of homocysteine, which can also decrease your bone mass.</p>
<p>In addition to calcium, you need other minerals and vitamins as well to help facilitate the absorption of calcium.  You should take a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement every day that includes vitamins K and D to help build strong bones.  Also, consider taking a regular calcium supplement.  Your doctor can help you choose a calcium supplement that will work well for you, as there are many different types of supplements on the market today.  Or, if you already have considerable bone loss, your doctor may prescribe prescription medication to help prevent further bone loss.</p>
<p>You should avoid eating excessive amounts of protein, as too much protein can cause your blood levels to become acidic.  In these instances, your body will leech calcium from your bones to buffer the acid levels of your blood.  This means that not only will any calcium you eat not be used by your bones, but your bones will be losing calcium as well.</p>
<p>You should also talk to your doctor about any medications you’re currently taking.  For example, corticosteroids can make it harder for your body to absorb Vitamin D, one of the vitamins that helps make bones stronger.  If you’re taking prednisone, for example, you may need to take prescription Vitamin D to offset this side effect.</p>
<p>If you’re a smoker, stopping smoking can help reduce your risk of broken bones due to osteoporosis by half.  If you’re a drinker, stopping drinking can also help prevent bone loss and lessen the likelihood that you fall and damage already brittle bones.</p>
<p>The best exercise for preventing osteoporosis is weight bearing exercise, such as walking and weight training.  Performing exercises to help increase your balance can also be helpful, as they will lessen your chances of falling.</p>
<p>If you’re a woman, talk to your doctor about hormone replacement therapy following menopause.  However, if you’re a man, you aren’t immune to osteoporosis.  Being Caucasian, Asian, smoking, drinking, having a small frame and having low levels of testosterone are all risk factors for developing osteoporosis.  Talk to your doctor about your options if you fall into any of these high risk groups.</p>

But there are some good things you can do for yourself that you can feel “wow” about right now. Let’s face it, unless we can feel like something is starting to happen, our minds don’t fully register it. Start a landslide of healthy habits in one day. Here are some simple, but doable things that really work:<br />
<strong><br />
Go through the pantry and throw out as many unhealthy foods as possible</strong>. As you go through your pantry and decide what to throw out, read the labels on the packages. You may be very surprised to see what you have been putting in your body. Pay attention to the servings per container. It may shock you to know that you have been eating up to three times as many calories as you thought because you were not aware that the package was meant to feed three.<br />
<strong><br />
Buy the most colorful fruit in season and eat it for a snack. </strong>The next time hunger comes knocking, feed it with an apple. Be ready, to not feel, like eating an apple, if you would normally eat junk food for a snack. Eating habits are like other habits, they take time to change. But once you start eating the apple you will realize how satisfying it can be, and you will not miss the sugar crash or bloat that comes with junk food.</p>
<p><strong>Drink 64 oz of water or more throughout the day.</strong> If a soda or a cup of coffee is what you usually have perched on your desk, or in your car, you are probably dehydrated. Dehydration can feel like hunger. It can also cause tiredness or a feeling of being worn out. Once the body is replenished with the water it needs it wakes up and feels alive again.</p>
<p><strong>Use the bed as a surface to stretch all the muscles in your body.</strong> The mattress on your bed is flexible, unlike the ground, and it makes it possible to stretch some muscles that were too hard to stretch on other surfaces. It may not provide the most challenging stretch, but it is a place to start, and it feels good.<br />
<strong><br />
Go to the mirror and smile at yourself at least every two hours.</strong> Your face always has an expression, unless you have surgically altered it’s ability to do so. Your facial expression is usually a dead give away to how you are feeling, or what you are thinking. Be aware of these things by grabbing, or going to a mirror. If you don’t like what you see, just smile. Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling can change your mood, and maybe if you do it enough, your face will stay that way.</p>
<p><strong>Set aside fifteen to thirty minutes for an afternoon nap.</strong> There comes a time in everybody ‘s day when metabolism slows and mental sharpness becomes dull. The feeling of being so drowsy that you pray you don’t have a meeting to go to, and fantasize about going to bed, just to sleep. If it is remotely possible, take a nap. Even ten minutes will feel refreshing. Just make sure not to exceed thirty minutes or it could cause even more drowsiness.</p>
<p><strong><br />
Change the sheets on the bed.</strong> Everybody’s been told to sleep tight, and don’t let the bed bugs bite. It is a fact that freshly changed bed sheets are more comfortable, and can cause sweet smelling dreams.</p>

I personally think it tastes great in any food. Garlic is found to be very beneficial and it’s super healthy.</p>
<p>Garlic comes from the onion family that includes onions, shallots, leek, and chives. It has a naturally spicy flavor that adds amazing flavor to any meal. Even though Garlic can be found around the world in many different countries, China is in the lead. It originated in a province in China.</p>
<p>Garlic plants are not attacked by pests. Hard neck garlic is grown in cooler climate where as soft neck garlic is grown in the warmer climates.  Garlic is a natural anti-inflammatory. Even though garlic has a lower concentration of nutrients in one serving compared to one serving on other vegetables it is still very beneficial to the body. Sulfur components in garlic are what make it a super-veggie. Sulfur is used in numerous medications such as antibiotics, blood pressure medications, and diuretics.</p>
<p>Aliin is the primary substance in garlic is the most beneficial compound. Allin kills bacteria and fungi, prevents the common cold, stops tumor growth, kills cancer cells, reduces inflammation, eliminates ulcers, keeps blood from clotting, balances cholesterols, improves blood flow to the lungs, reduces liver damage and is an antioxidant. Allicin is also responsible for the smell of garlic. As long as it has the garlic smell then it has allicin. It releases once the garlic is crushed or cut. Garlic is absorbed by the stomach and small intestine so if you take fresh garlic supplements you will still receive benefits once absorbed in the small intestine. 1-4 cloves of garlic daily will do the trick for most people.</p>
<p>Garlic does thin blood so be careful when taking garlic or supplements if you are taking blood thinning medication. Another side effect of garlic besides bad breathe is a mild condition called halitosis. It sounds a lot scarier than it is. It makes your body produce sweat in a very offensive manner. Your pores and sweat will reek the smell of garlic and it takes more than soap to get it off. I personally think it’s worth the temporary discomfort. All you need to do is hang with people that love garlic that way it will never bother them.</p>

The fit stars in exercise videos make every move and stretch look so easy, but looks can be deceiving. Unless you are as fit as they are, it won’t be as easy for you. Even if you manage to get in the same exact pose as they are in, you may wonder why your foot is not in the same place as theirs is. After a while you will figure out that it was because you had extra padding blocking your foot, that they did not have. It can be discouraging. It’s best to learn to celebrate every little accomplishment until you gain your momentum. Burning fat and blasting calories should be the first on the list of things to do. The best way to do that is to choose a cardiovascular workout that you can do, and commit to doing it every day. Exercise machines have come a long way and can be a great place to start.</p>

People have their choice of running or walking on the treadmill, both burns calories, but running outdoors is not a practical choice for everybody. The weather can throw a serious monkey wrench in a runner’s workout routine. Those who love to run also need to be very cautious of the neighborhood they run in. Not only can strangers be a threat, but stray animals can be pretty scary too. For people who choose to run or walk daily to burn fat, the treadmill is a good option to have.</p>
<p>The Stairmaster is a machine that made it’s debut in the 1980’s. It can be used for a good cardio workout to burn calories and fat just like the treadmill, and some people feel that it is less monotonous than just walking. When the stair machine first came on the scene it was primarily used to target the Glute Muscles. When it is used consistently it does a good job of shaping the butt. About ten years after the Stairmaster came out, the best of both machines in one, hit the market, the elliptical.</p>
<p>There are a lot of versions of the elliptical trainer, and they come in all price ranges. It is a good idea to start with one of the more modest priced machines because there is not much of a difference between those and the higher priced models.</p>
<p>Learning how to effectively use one of these machines is much like learning how to walk. It just takes determination. Start at the lowest level you are comfortable with, and go for as long as you can. Soon you will be able to go for longer periods of time on higher levels. After a few weeks you will be able to set specific caloric and distance orientated goals for yourself. Many rewards will follow this new healthy habit, but one of the first you will notice is your sense of pride in yourself for taking a real step in the direction of a more fit future.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mojo is not just the name referring to an item on the menu at Shakey’s Pizza. The most widely recognized definition of the word Mojo, is a flannel bag containing items to   bring about a magic spell. The flannel bag is used in different colors, and the items carried in it are very specifically chosen to bring about a particular spell. The spells and  the bags are used in the African-American practice of hoodoo. The Mojo is also called “the prayer bag”. It is like a goodie bag and is coveted and guarded by those who carry it.</p>
<p>Popular culture recognizes the word used frequently since, the 1960’s singer, Jim Morrison used it in the title of one his songs. Today we use the word Mojo to describe any situation or condition, that we desire, flowing organically and in a good and easy way. It is having it all come together effortlessly. It is almost like being in the zone, but is more a continuum of that feeling. Having your mojo can last for minutes or days. It is a feeling we strive for.</p>
<p>To experience health mojo all that is needed is a plan of action put into use. It can take a few tries to achieve the balance and rewards for our actions, but if we are consistent and steadfast to the plan, it will all come together. It is very easy to get discouraged because we are surrounded by messages that promote instant gratification. The message screams that if you don’t get what you want almost immediately, it is time to abandon ship and try something else. This is one of the most destructive beliefs a person can have in any area of life. If you really think about it, when something appears to be changed instantly, you should expect that the change will not be permanent, and may even be very fleeting. Getting healthy has both immediate and long term rewards. The immediate rewards will be more felt than seen.</p>
<p>The good place your mind goes to when you become aware that you are exercising because you decided to, and because you stuck to that decision, is your mojo. You are feeling your mojo when your face breaks into a smile as you walk away from an unhealthy snack or desert because you said no, and meant it. It is your mojo when you feel the pride in yourself swell as you realize that you have not routinely bought candy every time you have gone to the store or gas station. The mojo moments happen every single day when you start living your plan to become healthier. It is not immediate gratification, it is better. It is deep felt gratification every day that brings a sense of power and strength, and when that strength takes root, confidence starts to grow. Confidence starts inside and encourages good thoughts and slowly takes over every aspect of a person. Before that person knows what is happening they are already different. Then one day they take a look at themselves and what they see is the person they always wanted to be.</p>
